OUR MISSION

Stop ocean plastic.
At the source.

The ocean plastic problem

Ten rivers — most of them in Asia — carry over 95% of the ocean plastic that enters the world’s oceans every year. The Yangtze River in China alone accounts for more than 55%.

The scale

Existing cleanup efforts measure success in pounds and kilograms. The problem flows in tonnes per hour. The math doesn’t work.

Our solution

Save Our Oceans Initiative deploys a commercial-scale harvesting fleet at the mouths of the world’s most polluting rivers — starting with the Yangtze. We catch plastic waste before it reaches the open sea, then recycle it on-shore into commercially viable shipping pallets sold under our SeaPal© brand.

Scale of ambition

14,720

tonnes captured — Year 1

87,600

tonnes captured — Year 3

292,000

tonnes captured — Year 5

“Tonnes per day. Not pounds per year.”

Our long-term target is more than 1,000,000 tonnes of river plastic captured annually — enough to meaningfully reverse the flow of plastic into the world’s oceans within a generation.

Why we can do this

SOOI was founded by Ted Staley, who has spent two decades in waste management and holds 12 international patents in the industry. Our board combines over a century of executive experience in environmental technology, international business development, and large-scale industrial operations.

Get involved

We are currently raising the funding to deploy our first harvesting fleet. If you are an investor, partner, or potential collaborator, we want to hear from you.
